Grade 1 students at Hamilton’s Westwood Elementary School had an “awesome” day today.
They had a special guest come visit them. As part of The Awesome Project, New York Times best-selling author Neil Pasricha stopped by, bearing gifts.
“Every single day, we are going to a lower-income school, all across Hamilton and Oshawa, Toronto and North York and all over the place, and we’re finding those schools that don’t get a lot of books given to them. And so what we’re doing is we’re pooling all of our resources together and we’re donating copies of Awesome is Everywhere as well as thousands of books to every school in order to improve literacy and to encourage people to find the love of reading.”
Each school that gets a visit from The Awesome Project receives 1500 brand new books and another $1,000 grant to spend on books and/or e-readers.
