Gordie Tapp honoured

One of CHCH’s pioneers is being honoured by the city of Burlington.

Gordie Tapp going to be is the first inductee into the Burlington Peforming Arts Centre’s Hall of Fame.

He received a lifetime acheivement award last year at the Hamilton Music Awards. He’s also a member of the Order of Canada and Order of Ontario. He’s also in the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, and he has a street named after him in Burlington.

Tapp came to Hamilton in the late 1940s, hosting the Main Street Jamboree at CHML radio, and joining CHCH when it launched in 1954. Eventually he became part of the U.S. TV show “Hee Haw” which also ran on CHCH
