Google’s prickly privacy policies

(Video added) Today’s the day Google’s consolidating policies for most of its products.
For example, users who log into several different services, such as Google.ca, Gmail and YouTube, will have data about all their searches and clicks stored together.
Google insists it simplifies things for users but many, including Canadian Privacy Commissioner Jennifer Stoddart have some concerns.
The biggest is how Google will save user information collected from all its services in one place.
Stoddart also worries that users aren’t being told enough about how to opt-out of the new plan, or how long it will take for personal information to be deleted when requested.
France’s privacy regulator complains the new Google policy violates the European Union’s data protection rules.
Google says users can stop the data consolidation from happening by staying logged out when using the search engine or YouTube or by having separate logins for each different site.
