The king of all monsters, Godzilla, gets a fresh Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures reboot in this Gareth Edwards-directed sci-fi flick. Staying faithful to the Toho stylings of the beast the film depicts Godzilla, the towering god-like specimen, as a terrifying force of nature. The film features a stacked cast including Aaron Taylor-Johnson who plays Ford Brody, a NAVY bomb specialist trying to return home to the site of a Godzilla attack; Bryan Cranston, who plays a crazed nuclear engineer that everybody refuses to listen to; Ken Watanabe, who plays the familiar Dr. Serizawa, a scientist who was devoted his life to the study of Godzilla; and Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Ford Brody’s wife, Elle, a nurse caught in the front lines after the city rampage. The existence of humanity is threatened and the damage of human scientific arrogance is exposed as Godzilla stands as our only hope for survival.

British director Gareth Edward’s, who is best known for his debut feature film, Monsters, had an impressive team behind the camera including Avengers cinematographer Seamus McGarvey, The Matrix production designer Owen Paterson and The Lord of The Rings trilogy visual effects supervisor Jim Rygiel. “I’ve always been interested in Godzilla and the ideas around him. I really wanted to see another Godzilla film and jumped at the opportunity,” Edwards says. “My main idea was to image ‘If this really happened, what would it be like?’ I wanted to take a grounded, realistic approach to a Godzilla film”.

Godzilla is rated PG.
