Georgetown man cleared of charges in $20M Pearson gold heist

Charges have been dropped against a Georgetown man who was accused in the 2023 Toronto Pearson Airport gold heist.

Crown prosecutors withdrew charges against Ammad Chaudhary in early April, two years after he was first arrested.

In 2024, Chaudhary was charged with theft over $5,000 and accessory after the fact. It is unclear as to why the charges were dropped.

Chaudhary was one of nine people believed to be behind the 2023 heist of $20 million worth of gold bars at Pearson’s Air Canada cargo facility.
