Funeral scheduled Thursday morning for South Simcoe police officers

The joint funeral service for two South Simcoe Police officers killed last week will take place in Barrie tomorrow.

The funeral service for constables Morgan Russell and Devon Northrup starts at 11 a.m. and will be a private event, but members of the public are invited to watch the procession.

The procession will travel through Barrie, ending at the Sadlon Arena.

Barrie Police are closing a number of roads tomorrow morning ahead of the service for the two constables who were shot while responding to a disturbance at a home in Innisfil.

Bayview Dr. from Big Bay Point Rd. to Churchill Dr. will be closed starting at 5:00 a.m.

Bayview Dr. from Churchill Dr. to Mapleview Dr. will then be closed starting at 8:00 a.m.

Harvie Rd./Big Bay Point Rd. will be closed from Veterans to Bayview Dr. starting at 5:00 a.m.

These roads are expected to reopen at approximately 10:00 a.m.

The OPP are providing front line service in South Simcoe from today until Friday so their colleagues can mourn.
