Funeral for woman killed in downtown Hamilton shooting to be held in Toronto

The funeral for an innocent bystander who was killed in Hamilton in July, will be held next Saturday in Toronto.

The 26-year-old Belinda Sarkodie was shot while waiting for a bus outside Jackson Square on July 11.

She had immigrated to Canada from Ghana in 2024, and was living and working in Hamilton.

Family members were among those at a vigil held a week after her death.

A GoFundMe campaign has raised nearly $14,000 to help with funeral costs, which can be found here.

It’s organized by the Ghanaian Association of Ontario, which has posted details of Sarkodie’s funeral on Instagram.

The service will be held in Toronto on the morning of Sept. 20.
