WATCH: Friends, family set to hold funeral for Toronto Const. Marc Pinizzotto at 1 p.m.

Mourners are expected to gather in Toronto Wednesday to attend a funeral for Toronto Police Const. Marc Pinizzotto.

A procession is set to begin at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral service at the Toronto Congress Centre at 1 p.m.

Pinizzotto died in hospital after he was shot during a police raid on June 11, while carrying out a search at an apartment building in northwest Toronto, as part of an investigation into multiple shootings.

The man accused of shooting him, 19-year-old Nicholas Bennett, was shot by police and remains in hospital.

Bennett has been charged with first-degree murder.

Pinizzotto’s family members as well as officials and police officers are expected to attend the service, which is closed to the public, but will be broadcast live online.
