Friday deadline nears for ‘critical’ Ford-Unifor talks

Union officials for Canadian autoworkers say negotiations with Ford Motor Company are entering a critical stage as a bargaining deadline for a new three-year deal soon approaches on Friday.

Union President Lana Payne says there’s progress at the table, but plenty of work still remains.

Since June 23, Unifor has actively been bargaining with Ford on behalf of its 5,000 workers.

Contracts with the Detroit Three automakers are set to expire on Sept. 20.
