Freezing rain possible overnight for Hamilton, Halton, Brant County

A special weather statement for freezing rain has been issued for a large portion of southern Ontario, including Hamilton, Halton and Brant County.

Environment Canada says there’s the possibility of freezing rain overnight Friday into Saturday.

A chance of showers Friday night could become patchy freezing rain as the temperature drops, leading to light ice accretion or build-up.

Rain is mainly expected for areas closer to Lake Ontario.

The amount of freezing rain is expected to be minor, but it may still lead to icy and slippery conditions.

Drivers are encouraged to practice a safe following distance and stay vigilant as the weather fluctuates.
