A grocery store in Hamilton shut down Monday for cleaning after an employee tested positive for a presumptive case of COVID-19.

The staff member works at Frank’s No Frills on Rymal Rd. near Upper Sherman Ave.

According to a post on the store’s Facebook page, the team member has not been in the store since April 9, before they began exhibiting symptoms of the virus.

The management team says they have contacted all staff who were working in close contact with the infected employee but did not disclose what department they worked in.

The business says it shut down for a thorough cleaning and expects to reopen Tuesday.

It has also implemented a number of protocols “at the store-level” including daily sanitization, and social distancing practices to minimize the risk of exposure to customers and other team members.

Many customers commented on the post and thanked management for their transparency while others said they were concerned because they had been in the store when the employee was working.

Store officials say they will work with the local public health team on any further directions that need to be taken.
