Fort Erie man, 25, arrested in convenience store robbery

A 25-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly robbing a convenience store and punching a store clerk.

Officers responded to reports of a robbery at a business in Fort Erie’s east end around 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Police say a man grabbed a small amount of merchandise and attempted to flee the store without paying.

A store employee tried to stop the man but was punched by the thief who then fled on foot.

The clerk suffered minor injuries during the incident.

Officers arrested Christopher Archambault, of Fort Erie, a short distance away. He was been charged with one count of robbery.

He is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
