The former administrator at Hamilton’s Settlement and Immigration Services Organization will find out today if she’ll go to jail for stealing $160,000 from the now-defunct agency.

Nese Burgaz pleaded guilty in May to theft over $5000, but her sentencing was delayed to allow her two former bosses convicted of fraud to be sentenced first.

The court found Burgaz used the money she took to pay for a new swimming pool, as well as her children’s private school education and to support her husband’s company.

On Friday, her lawyer asked for a 12-month conditional sentence to be served in the community. He argued the 46-year old is eager to start making amends.
