Former CHCH broadcaster Vic Cummings dies at 86

Former CHCH broadcaster Vic Cummings passed away peacefully last week at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, Ont.

Born in Montreal in 1939, Cummings built a remarkable career in television, spending 18 years with CHCH Channel 11, where he began as a reporter and anchor.

He later created and hosted the popular program Soap Box, earning the affectionate nickname “Mr. Soaps” for his witty and entertaining takes on daytime TV.

A beloved husband, father and grandfather, Cummings will be remembered for his humour, generosity and his warm ability to make everyone feel welcome.
