Many companies are looking for ways to be more sustainable and provide “greener” products for their customers.
Car companies are no different, and Ford gave us a look at their new Focus battery electric. One of the appealing aspects of the car is it’s said to only cost about $2 to $3 to charge. It also holds up to five passengers and can go approximately 160 kilometres on a charge. And with a top speed of about 130 kilometres an hour, it impressed some of those who saw it.
Krystyna Lagowski of the I Drive Like a Girl blog: “I thought it drove like a regular car, and now it’s interesting because I just drove a Forcus like maybe a month ago and it felt like pretty much the same car. I thought it was maybe a little bit heavier, but that could be because I had a full load of passengers, whereas before I only had a dog with me.”
But if you’re itching to buy one, the car doesn’t come cheap. It starts at more than 41-thousand dollars, and the infrastructure isn’t in place just yet where you can top up the batteries at every corner. For now though, it’s a look at the direction the auto industry is headed.
