Taylor Hawkins, the long-time drummer for the rock band Foo Fighters, has died at 50-years-old.

The drummer died at a hotel in Bogota, Colombia, where the band was on a South American tour.

There was no immediate details on how Hawkins died. The Bogota municipal government issued a statement Saturday saying the city’s emergency centre had received a report of a patient with “chest pain” and send an ambulance.

It says a private ambulance had already arrived at the hotel. Health workers tried to revive him, but were unsuccessful.

Colombian authorities said the cause of death is under investigation.

The Foo Fighters released a statement saying in part, “The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His music spirit and infectious laughter will live with all of us forever.”

Foo Fighters had been scheduled to play at a festival in Bogota on Friday night. Hawkin’s final performance was Sunday at a festival in San Isidro, Argentina.

Hawkins is survived by his wife of 16 years and three children.
