Flood warnings end for the Grand River watershed

All flood warnings and watches have ended for the Grand River watershed, but for some, the clean-up has just begun.
One section of West Montrose Family Camp sits feet away from Grand River’s edge, and on Friday, most of the trailers were floating.
Today Grand River Conservation Authority ended flood warnings, after torrential downpours blasted areas along the Grand River watershed.
One man’s $15 000 trailer is a write-off. He now anxiously waits to hear back about insurance coverage, and says many of his neighbours are doing the same. Flooding also blew out the park’s transformer, and four days later it remains without power.
Many full-time park residents have re-located since their their homes are now unlivable.
While the flood warning has ended, Grand River Conservation says flows are still much higher than normal and it may not be safe for recreational activities.
