Firefighter injured, dog rescued after blaze in Waterdown home

Emergency crews responded to a fire at a Hamilton home on McKnight Avenue shortly before 5 p.m. on Monday.

Crews say there was heavy smoke caused by a suspected electrical failure, which resulted in around $750,000 in damages.

Hamilton fire told CHCH News that there were no occupants in the home but a dog was found and removed. A firefighter was also taken to hospital for an injury to their arm and heat exhaustion.

Hamilton fire says the residence was turned over to the owner who has made alternate arrangements for accommodation.
