Fire destroys Ancaster home

A home on Highway 52 in Ancaster has been destroyed by fire.

It started just after 9:30 last night. Although temperatures weren’t as cold last night as they have been, back-up crews were called in to relieve the firefighters who were first on the scene.

It took more than 2 hours to bring the fire under control. Crews stayed overnight to put out hot spots.

Damage is estimated at more than half a million dollars; the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office has been called in.

Hamilton Police say the fire is not considered suspicious.
