Fifty years later, Maple Leafs honour Darryl Sittler’s historic 10-point game

A lot has changed about the game since that fateful night, but one thing remains the same: Darryl Sittler’s 10-point record is still intact. Six goals and four assists—an achievement that has never been beaten.

Darryl Sittler gives credit to his teammates from that night for sharing in this piece of history. Of the 19 players on that roster, he says 12 are still alive, including Tiger Williams.

With the 50th anniversary approaching, Sittler looked up the ticket his wife Wendy saved at the time. The lucky numbers seemed to be right there on the ticket.

Another special moment for tonight’s game: Sittler will be wearing the jersey he wore that night. Two collectors pitched in 200 thousand Canadian dollars at auction to secure it for this occasion. The jersey had been lost after the final game in which he wore it.

Darryl Sittler will be honoured at tonight’s home game—Toronto versus Buffalo. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
