(video updated) Finance Minister Jim Flaherty says $ 660-million in federal funding for a Toronto subway expansion is a “done deal.”

Flaherty says the money comes at the request of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, who wrote a letter to the prime minister asking for money to pay for the east-end expansion for the city’s subway line. Ford says he fought for the plan, because Toronto residents told him it’s what they wanted.

Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne says she doubts the federal government would have come to the table, if the province hadn’t already made a $1.4 billion commitment to the project.
