Federal offender known to frequent Hamilton arrested

A man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant has been arrested in Paris, Ontario.

Toronto police say 43-year-old Trevor Charlton was arrested Thursday.

Charlton had been serving a four-year and three-month sentence for six separate offences, including possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and uttering threats to cause death or harm.

Police warned the public that he was wanted for breaching a statutory release and was at large earlier this week.

Authorities said he had been known to frequent the Greater Toronto Area, Hamilton and the Halton region.

Detectives say Charlton is now facing a four-year, eight-month and 13-day sentence.
