Federal government asking Hamilton to accept 15 asylum-seeking families

The federal government are asking municipalities, like Hamilton, to welcome more asylum-seeking families. Due to overcrowding in Toronto emergency shelters, city staff are looking for places for the potential new arrivals to live.

The city is asking for $500,000 in federal cash to offset the costs from last year to accommodate the potential arrival of new residents.
