Federal government announces funding for affordable housing in Hamilton

The Federal government has announced it’s chipping in $2M to help Hamilton create new affordable housing apartments.

The money will be used to create housing in a renovation project at the Hughson Street Baptist Church.

The apartment will be made up of 45 units, two will be 2-bedroom units and the other single bedroom units. Nine rooms will be fully accessible.

The affordable housing units will rent for about $500 a month.

Completion is scheduled for next spring.
