The father of a Toronto boy who was starved to death by his grandparents describes his son as a very energetic toddler who loved superman.

Richard Baldwin told an inquest into Jeffrey’s death that he was a happy boy.

Elva Bottineau and Norman Kidman were granted custody of Jeffrey and his three siblings despite having previous child abuse convictions.

Badlwin told the inquest that if he had known the couple’s past, he would not have allowed them to get custody of his children.

Jeffrey died in his grandparents home in November 2002, weeks before his fifth birthday. He weighed just 21 pounds.
