Fatal motorcycle crash in Welland

Someone was killed in a crash involving a motorcycle in Welland and the province’s special investigations unit is investigating.

It happened in the area of Woodlawn Road and River Road.

According to the SIU, preliminary information suggests that a Niagara police officer was driving west on Woodlawn when he noticed a motorcycle speeding.

The officer made a u-turn and followed the motorcycle, that’s when the driver crashed.

The driver of the motorcycle died at the scene.
