Investigators from the office of Ontario’s Fire Marshal have finished their investigation of a Hamilton house fire that took three lives over the weekend; a mother and two of her young children.

About 4:30 in the morning Saturday, Hamilton firefighters rushed to the Niagara street house, the house next door also caught fire, but no one was inside at the time.

Neighbours say a mother, Victoria Forrest, her one and a half year old daughter Abigail and her nine year old son Robert were on the top floor of 70 Niagara street, they did not survive. A family member says the father, Daniel, managed to carry his two other children to safety, six year old Tayshawn and four year old Dontay.

Eleven people were reportedly staying in the house at the time, including a grandmother Yvonne, who was back at the wreckage on Monday. Seven went to hospital and one person is still recovering from burns and smoke inhalation, according to fundraising pages.

If you would like to help the family a Go Fund Me page has been set up. The page say the family especially needs clothes, toys and school supplies. The survivors escaped the fire with only the nightclothes they were wearing.
