Halton Regional Police were called to Guelph Line just south of number 10 Sideroad in Milton just before 1:00am Saturday morning. Two men needed to be pulled out of their vehicles by emergency crews. A 48-year-old Guelph man, driving a grey Mazda 3 was airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital. He was pronounced dead upon arrival. A 21-year-old Milton resident driving a blue Ford Focus was also rushed to hospital by ambulance. He suffered minor injuries and is expected to recover.
Police say the driver of the grey coloured Mazda was travelling southbound on Guelph Line. That’s when he veered into the northbound lane slamming head on with a blue coloured Ford Focus. Police are still trying to figure out why the man turned into on-coming traffic. Investigators are looking into several factors, including speed, weather and alcohol. The crash was just a couple hundred metres away from the Mohawk Racetrack.
Guelph Line was closed for 6 hours between Campbellville Road and 10th Sideroad.
