Fatal fire in Stoney Creek

Firefighters had to battle a fatal townhouse fire in Stoney Creek overnight.

Just before two o’clock Friday morning, firefighters were called to Gateshead Crescent in Stoney Creek where smoke and flames were visible in unit 10 of the townhouse complex.

A 90 year old woman was found on the first floor and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her dog also died.

The cause has still to be determined.
