A man driving a Dodge Caravan on Highway 400 south of Essa Road in Barrie was killed last night when his northbound van collided with a tractor trailer in the southbound lanes.

After the collision at about 9:30 last night, the OPP had all southbound lanes between Essa Road and Mapleview Drive closed for several hours.

Police have not released the identity of the victim. Investigators are still trying to determine why the van was driving in the wrong direction.
