Metrolinx and the City of Toronto are under fire after transit service wasn’t extended early Sunday morning following the World Series finale.

Thousands of fans were left stranded across the city after Game 7 went into extra innings, wrapping up just as public transit was shutting down for the night.

A post on the city’s social media account shortly after midnight read, “Transit won’t wait… the final GO Train leaves Union Station soon and the last TTC train is around 1:30.”
Metrolinx officials say track ownership and operational requirements prevent service from running overnight.

Frustrated fans took to social media, arguing the city should have planned for extended service given the significance of the event. Many were forced to walk long distances or pay for costly rideshares to get home.
