Every movie needs bad guys. And while they usually lose in the end, it’s probably a lot of fun to be on the evil side of a conflict. That’s where Jai Courtney and Mekhi Phifer find themselves in Insurgent, the second film in the Divergent series, which is based on Veronica Roth’s bestselling young adult series. The two play key members of the Dauntless faction – the warlike group wrestling for power among the crumbling societal structure.

We were on the red carpet at the film’s Toronto premiere to ask the duo about the new sequel and what it’s like playing the bad guy.
