Evan Leversage in palliative care

A 7-year-old whose inoperable brain tumour caused the town of St. George to hold its Santa Claus parade before Halloween has taken a turn for the worse.

Evan Leversage is now mostly sleeping in palliative care as his family makes final preparations to say goodbye.

Christmas celebrations in St. George were moved up to October 24 as word of Evan’s condition spread, with doctors telling the family he was unlikely to make it to the holiday.

Besides getting one last early Christmas in October, Evan had recently completed his bucket list.

He was still well enough to see the Maple Leafs play early last week, but was admitted to hospital on Wednesday.

The family continues to get dozens of letters from well-wishers while a GoFundMe page has raised $46,000 to support his family.
