Erick Reid, convicted of manslaughter and the last man remaining in the Neil Harris’ murder case, was sentenced to 15 years in jail. He’ll spend the next 11.5 behind bars after getting 3.5 years for credit served.

While Reid did not get the same life sentence his partner Odain Gardner did back in May, the judge found that the he deserved a hefty sentence due to his long criminal past and knowledge that he and Gardner were at least attempting a mid-day armed robbery.

The Harris family say while they can’t bring Neil back, they can at least remember his life in the privacy of their own home and not in this courthouse ever again.

“It’s over, I don’t have to come downtown I don’t have to come to the courthouse, I don’t have to deal with this ever again, it’s over. We will never have full closure but at least this part, this ordeal is over for us.” Tanya Harris, Neil Harris’ widow.

Odain Gardner’s family was also inside the courtroom. They say the convicted killer still hasn’t admitted to pulling the trigger. They referred to the murder as a ‘he said he said’ over who actually killed Harris and are confused why Odain was convicted of first degree murder and Erick Reid of manslaughter.
