Emerald St. fire

Dozens of residents were forced to leave their apartments, after a fire broke out in a six-story Hamilton apartment building.

It happened at 93 Emerald St. S in a storage unit on the 6th floor earlier this evening.  Fire officials say no one lives in the unit and all alarms in the area were in working order.

No injuries were reported and all occupants have been allowed back into their apartments. It’s not yet known what caused the blaze. Damage is estimated at $5 000.
