Elderly woman dead, man hospitalized after St. Catharines crash

An 86-year-old woman has died and an 81-year-old man is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following a two-vehicle collision in St. Catharines early Friday morning.
Emergency crews responded around 7:45 a.m. to the area of Third St. Louth and Fifth Ave. Louth for a report of a serious crash.
Paramedics say the St. Catharines woman who was a passenger in a Toyota Camry was pronounced dead at the scene. The St. Catharines man driving the vehicle was taken to hospital for treatment.
Investigators with the collision reconstruction unit say the Toyota was stopped and then entered the path of an oncoming Dodge Ram pickup truck towing a trailer.
UPDATE
1 adult has been pronounced deceased, another transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Investigation remains ongoing.

Police say no one else was injured in the collision.
No charges have been laid at this time.
Roads in the area were closed as police investigated, but they have since reopened.
