Elderly driver charged after toddler struck by vehicle in Hamilton

The elderly driver of a vehicle that struck a toddler at a crosswalk in Hamilton Thursday afternoon has been charged in connection with the incident.
Hamilton police say that the driver pulled out of a parking lot on Main Street West near Westbourne Road around 3:30 p.m.
Officers say that as the vehicle entered the roadway, it struck a two-year-old boy who was crossing the street with his family using the crosswalk at the intersection.
The two-year-old was taken to hospital out of an abundance of caution and did not sustain life-threatening injuries.
The driver, who has not been identified by police, has been charged with careless driving.
