Eighteen-year Halton police veteran charged with fraud by OPP

An 18-year member of Halton police has been arrested and charged with fraud following a two-year investigation by the OPP.
Halton police say that in February 2023 an investigation was started by the OPP’s Anti-Rackets Branch following multiple complaints of fraud in relation to an investment scheme.
As a result of the investigation Sergeant Jon Williams has been charged with fraud over $5,000 in addition to two other individuals with no connection to the police service.
As per the Community Safety and Policing Act, Williams has been suspended from duty with pay.
According to Halton police the matter is currently before the courts.
