Early morning shots fired on Hamilton Mountain

Hamilton Police continue to investigate after shots were fired early Tuesday morning on the central Mountain.

Investigators canvassed in the area of Towercrest Dr. and Upper Wellington St. and can confirm that a shooting occurred shortly before 1 a.m.

The suspect had fled before police arrived but witnesses report seeing a black Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Ontario license plate CEEL 368.

No injuries were reported to police and a search of local hospitals did not uncover any relevant gunshot wound victims.

The investigation has been taken over by the Division Three Criminal Investigation Branch.

Detectives are appealing to area residents to check their security cameras between the hours of 12:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. and to contact police if they see any suspicious activity.

At this time investigators have information that this is a targeted shooting.
