Dynamic distancing
Prime Minister Trudeau said there could be an ongoing wave of new COVID19 cases. That means physical distancing will be Canada’s new reality until a vaccine is found. Scientists from the University of Toronto and the University of Guelph used mathematical modeling to predict the course of the disease in Ontario. They’ve come up with the idea of “Dynamic Physical Distancing”. According to the study’s lead author the key is to “Ride the Wave” by pegging physical distancing measures to the number of intensive care beds in use, those restrictions can be loosened when ICU numbers drop, then tightened up again when the numbers near capacity, basically dialing physical distancing measures up and down. Ashleigh Tuite spoke with CHCH News and explained some key points.
