Durham police investigate Christmas Day stabbing in Whitby
Officers in Durham Region are asking for help from the public in identifying a suspect after he allegedly stabbed a man on Christmas Day in Whitby.
Durham Regional Police are investigating after a man was stabbed in the area of Gilbert St. East and Brock St. South on Dec. 25.
Officers responded to the area at approximately noon and found a 52-year old man suffering from serious injuries.
The victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma center where he reportedly remains in stable condition.

Reports say the suspect fled southbound on Brock St. before officers arrived on the scene.
Police say they currently do not have a motive for the stabbing.
The suspect is described as an adult man with brown skin, approximately 25-30 years old, wearing black pants, a black jacket, dark grey boots, and a striped toque.
Investigators are appealing to members of the public to aid in their search for this suspect.
