With no one yet finding the ace of spades, the Dundas Legion’s “Catch The Ace” progressive lottery jackpot continues to grow, nearing the $1.5-million mark.

The draw takes place every Wednesday at 8 p.m.

No one won the top prize on Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve, though several participants took home weekly guaranteed cash prizes of more than $100,000 over the holidays.

The draw returned in person last week as part of a New Year’s celebration, where a participant identified as Karin won the guaranteed cash prize of $155,000.

The last two weekly cash prizes have been the biggest so far at over six figures.

Organizers say this is the longest-running “Catch The Ace” lottery in Dundas since it began in 2023.

Peter Howard helped start the lottery and explains how the event has brought the community together.

“Wednesday nights here are rocking. Please come early if you’re coming tonight,” Howard said.

“It’s been tremendous. The whole team at the legion and at the [St. Joseph’s Villa Foundation] gets a real kick out of being able to raise this kind of money. We never expected it to get this big.”

Tonight’s event begins at 5:30 p.m. with live music and hot dogs, with the draw scheduled for 8 p.m.
