Driving instructor fined for speeding with student in passenger seat

Halton police say a driving instructor has been fined after being caught speeding with a student in the car on Wednesday.

HRPS Burlington said in a social media post that the instructor was in the passenger seat with a student who had just failed their driving test.

The driver was stopped around 10:30 a.m. doing 80 kilometers per hour in a 50 zone along the beach on Lakeshore Rd.

Officers say the car was only five kilometers per hour from being classified as stunt driving.

The instructor now faces a $265 ticket and four demerit points.
