The driver of the Spanish train that derailed at a high speed last week now faces multiple charges of negligent homicide.

79 people died in the derailment. Francisco Jose Garzon Amo has since been released without bail and is to appear before a court once a week. He is also forbidden to leave Spain without permission.

The train was going well over the 80 km/h speed limit when it derailed and slammed into a concrete wall going around a curve.
