Driver charged in serious West Lincoln collision last month

One driver has been charged as police continue to investigate a collision in West Lincoln last month that seriously injured a motorcyclist.

Emergency crews were called around 8:07 a.m. on August 28 to the scene of a collision between a white Harley Davidson motorcycle and a blue Hyundai Tucson on Regional Rd. 20, also known as Highway 20, near Streamside Dr.

Officers say the 59-year-old female motorcyclist from West Lincoln was taken to an out-of-region hospital suffering from what is believed to be life-threatening injuries.

She remains in hospital in stable condition at this time.

On Wednesday, detectives charged the driver of the Hyundai Tucson, a 53-year-old woman from Smithville, with one count of careless driving causing bodily harm.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on November 7.
