Draft Day

Draft Day is a sports drama from director Ivan Reitman. Kevin Costner stars as Sonny Weaver Jr., the fictional general manager of the Cleveland Browns navigating his team though the first round of the NFL Draft. Weaver is able to work his magic and get his team the number one pick, but as the clock ticks down to the big decision, he must deal with the pressure put on him by his friends, family, and the team. The film co-stars Jennifer Garner, Denis Leary, Frank Langella, Sam Elliott, Sean Combs, Terry Crews, Chadwick Boseman, and Ellen Burstyn.

Being set around the NFL, Reitman had to go to the league for permission to use its likeness’, which can sometimes be a tall ask. “There was a very long negotiating process with the NFL to get their permission,” Reitman said. “The good news is they loved the script right from the beginning. They had certain issues with certain things that weren’t accurate, and we changed those things. But they really asked for very little in terms of making changes.”

Draft Day is rated PG.
