Disabled vehicle on Burlington Skyway slows morning traffic

A disabled vehicle shut down several lanes of the Burlington Skyway on Thursday morning, causing massive delays for commuters in the region.
Three right lanes on the Toronto bound QEW were closed for almost two hours, according to the Ministry of Transportation’s (MTO) travellers information page.
It’s unclear at this time what disabled the vehicle or why it closed three lanes on the bridge connecting Hamilton and Burlington.

The first update from the MTO was posted shortly before 6:30 a.m.
By 8:30 a.m. the notice was removed from the information page.
The shutdown of the three lanes had a ripple effect on traffic throughout the Hamilton region, with cars coming to a crawl on both the Toronto-bound QEW and York Boulevard.

Today is a great example of why #HamOnt needs to keep up investment in public transit – fog created unsafe driving and cycling conditions, but even with major delays for some commuters it's still faster than taking transit. For a modal shift to happen, transit needs to be viable!
