Derailed GO Train near Toronto Union Station disrupts Monday commutes

Metrolinx, the company behind GO Transit, says a disabled train near Union Station has caused delays affecting Monday commutes across the entire network.

The provincial government agency that runs GO Transit says a slow-moving train leaving Union Station came off the track in the morning and made contact with a track switch.

That caused signal problems and reduced the movement of other trains, causing several trips to be delayed, or cancelled.

At the moment, no trains are able to move through the area but are travelling as far as possible before Union Station. UP Express trains to the Pearson International Airport are also cancelled.

Metrolinx says all train service lines are expected to continue to see delays through the evening rush hour.

Those heading towards Toronto are advised to look at TTC alternatives for the commute.
