Toronto’s Deputy Mayor Norm Kelly says his staff is looking into how the army could help with the ice storm clean-up. But unlike when Former Mayor Mel Lastman called in the army to help shovel snow, Kelly says that’s not what he’s doing.
The city says it’s going to cost 75-million dollars and take up to 8 weeks to clear tree branches and other debris. Kelly has asked staff to look into the process of requesting soldiers to help. Any request for troops would have to go through the province before it is relayed to the federal government.
