Crown makes case for keeping Aziga locked up

Closing arguments are underway in a Hamilton courtroom, as the Crown seeks to have Johnson Aziga declared a dangerous offender.

Aziga is believed to be the first person in Canada convicted of murder through HIV transmission.

The Crown is arguing he has an abnormally high libido, and is at risk of reoffending if he’s eventually freed.
Aziga’s lawyers point out it’s already been 8 years since his conviction and point to the fact that he will be much older when he’s released.
Last month, Aziga admitted he was guilty of not telling women he was HIV positive but didn’t think he should have been convicted of murder.
